The family saga that begins with Abraham continues in this parashah with the drama of Isaac, his wife, Rebecca, and their two sons, Esau and Jacob. Each of the characters presents aspects of the spiritual journey in which we are all involved. We are on a journey of self-discovery and self-recovery, seeking to remember a more inclusive Identity behind the personality with which we encounter each other and our world.

We are each vehicles for the One Life which infuses all Creation. Through our uniqueness this One visions, thinks, feels, senses, and acts its way into the world. As this Energy unfolds through us, it reveals the further evolution of Creation itself. The ways in which that Divine Spark manifests through us affects the nature of the world in which we life.

And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac. (25:19)

We are each a link in a family chain through which energy flows, and we are each "generative" because of the Life Energy we express. Much of the time, we are simply continuing the creation that was handed to us by the world in which we grew. But no matter what we do with our lives, whether we act consciously or automatically, we together generate the environment we share.

This is a week in which we are encouraged to become more aware of what we are generating through our visions, our intentions, our feelings, our sensations, and our actions. Through this awareness we are better able to take greater responsibility for what we are creating. Perhaps it's time to release old inherited and automatic patterns and choose more consciously the reality we are living.
